Security and privacy

Security, privacy and data retention

A gate app holds photos, phone numbers and movements of real people. We keep as little as we need, show it only to the people who need it, and delete it on a schedule.

Illustration with sample data. Android app.

What you get

PIN login, no SMS

Sign in with mobile number and a 6-digit PIN. The PIN is stored only as a keyed hash. Repeated wrong PINs lock sign-in for a while.

One-time activation codes

The society office hands each person a one-time code to start. Codes expire and can be revoked.

Each person sees only what they should

Residents see their own flat. Guards see the gate. Admins see their society. Treasurers see billing.

Private photos

Photos and files are not public. The app and portal open them through short-lived links.

Automatic deletion

Visitor photos are deleted after the number of days your society sets (30 to 365, default 90). Visitor names, phones and vehicle numbers are anonymised after 24 months.

Delete my account

Anyone can erase their account in the app. A person who has lost access can write to us.

Your data is never sold

We do not sell your society's data, and access is limited by role. This website sets no cookies and loads no tracking scripts.

Few permissions

Camera for photos, notifications, full-screen alerts for gate calls, and vibration. No location, contacts, SMS or microphone.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Collect little

Only what a gate and a society office need.

  2. Step 2

    Show it narrowly

Access depends on the person's role and flat.

  3. Step 3

    Delete on schedule

Retention rules remove photos and personal fields when they are no longer needed.

Good to know

  • Where the data lives: GateBell runs on a server operated for Stynosoft in Europe. Google Firebase is used only for push notifications and crash reports. This is explained in the privacy policy.
  • For resident, guard and visitor data, your housing society decides why and how it is used and Stynosoft provides the service on the society's behalf. Stynosoft is responsible for account security and technical data.
  • This page is a summary. The privacy policy and terms are the binding text.
