Visitor approval
Visitor approval with real-time alerts
At the gate the guard logs who has come and for which flat. A moment later the resident's phone rings like a phone call, with the visitor's photo and details on screen. One tap decides, and the guard sees the answer immediately.
What you get
Rings like a call
A full-screen alert that can appear over the lock screen, so it is hard to miss, even when the phone is in a pocket and the app is closed.
One tap: approve, deny or leave at gate
Three big buttons on the visitor card. The guard's screen turns green, red or blue straight away.
First to answer wins
If two phones in a flat ring, the first answer stops the others and shows who answered, for example "Approved by Priya".
A proper visitor card
Photo, name, company or category (guest, delivery, cab, service), number of guests and the gate, so you know who is at the door before you decide.
When nobody answers
Ringing stops after 45 seconds by default (your society can change this). The guard can ring again, call the resident, or approve or reject with a written note.
A complete gate log
Every entry is recorded with time, gate, decision, who decided and when the visitor left. The committee can search it in the web portal.
How it works
- Step 1
Guard logs the visitor
Photo, name, company chip such as Zomato or Amazon, and the flat. Big buttons, very little typing.
- Step 2
The flat's phones ring
The alert is sent as a high-priority push message to every phone linked to that flat.
- Step 3
The resident decides
Approve, deny or leave at gate. Everyone else's ringing stops.
- Step 4
The guard sees it live
The result appears on the guard's screen at once. The guard marks the visitor inside and later marks the exit.
Good to know
- Alerts travel through Google's push service (FCM). The app is built to hand the alert over within a fraction of a second of the guard's tap; how fast it reaches the phone then depends on mobile network and phone settings.
- On Android, ringing over the lock screen needs the full-screen alert permission and unrestricted battery use for GateBell. The app checks both and guides the resident to the right setting.
- Today GateBell is an Android app. An iPhone app is planned but not available yet.
Frequently asked questions
Is it a real phone call?
No. It is an app alert that looks and feels like an incoming call. It uses mobile data or Wi-Fi, not call minutes, so there is no call charge.
What if the resident's phone is off or has no internet?
The alert cannot reach it. After the ring time the entry shows as no answer, and the guard can call the resident or decide with a written note.
Does it work when the app is closed?
It is designed to ring when the app is closed. This depends on the phone's notification and battery settings, which the app helps residents check.
