GateBell

How it works

From the gate to the resident's phone in a few taps

Here is what happens when a visitor arrives, and what it takes to get a society going.

Illustration with sample data. Android app.

When a visitor arrives

  1. 1

    The guard logs the visitor

At the gate the guard takes a photo, taps the company or category, enters the name and picks the flat. A pass holder skips this: the guard types the 6-digit code or scans the QR.

  2. 2

    The alert goes out

GateBell sends a high-priority push message to every phone linked to that flat, through Google's push service. The app is built to hand the alert over within a fraction of a second.

  3. 3

The phone rings like a call

A full-screen alert shows the visitor's photo, name, company and gate. It can appear over the lock screen, even if the app was closed.

  4. 4

    One tap decides

Approve, deny or leave at gate. The first answer wins, and the other phones in the flat stop ringing and show who answered.

  5. 5

    The guard sees it live

The guard's screen updates at once. An approved visitor is marked inside, and marked out when they leave. Everything is kept in the gate log.

One app, three modes

Getting a society live

  1. 1

    Request a demo

Tell us about your society. We create it with its gates and a first admin.

  2. 2

    Import your flats

Upload a CSV file of blocks and flat numbers. Add flat type, area or occupancy if you bill by them.

  3. 3

    Invite guards and committee

Share one-time activation codes on WhatsApp or print slips. Each person chooses their own 6-digit PIN. There is no SMS.

  4. 4

    Residents join

Residents are invited by the committee, or ask to join in the app and are approved.

  5. 5

Set up billing, then go live

Add your UPI and bank details and your billing rules. Start at one gate, then widen.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if a resident does not answer?

The ring stops after the time your society sets (45 seconds by default). The entry shows as no answer. The guard can ring again, call the resident, or approve or reject with a written note.

Does it need the internet?

Yes. The guard's phone, the resident's phone and the server talk over the internet. If a phone is offline, the alert cannot reach it.

How long does it take to set up a society?

That depends on how quickly flats and people are listed. The steps are short: we create the society, you import flats from a CSV file, invite guards and committee with activation codes, and residents join.

Do residents need to do anything special for the alert to ring?

They should allow notifications and full-screen alerts, and let GateBell run without battery limits. The app checks these and guides residents to the settings.
